Match Report
Salisbury Cathedral School Mixed-U11B vs  Stroud School, Romsey
On: Wednesday, 16 Jun 2021
Venue: at Home

A brilliant win for SCS U11Bs, we chased down Stroud’s target of 262 in terrific style.

Despite having a very sore toe, Paddy batted like a hero. His clean hitting and excellent running and calling between wickets got us off to the solid start we needed. Next came the powerful duo of Charles and Matthew, both who found it difficult at first to get going. In fact, Stroud made three remarkable catches in one over to put our accumulation of runs into reverse. Matthew then found his range and proceeded to dispatch the ball out of the astro field. Three crashing sixes and two fours later, we were back on track. Naomi and Mary made a solid pairing, keeping the total ticking along and supporting and communicating with each other intelligently. Rory and Faith played equally well, Faith hitting especially strongly on the off-side. It was then left to Tilly and Katherine to hit the runs required, and you can think of no better pairing to do so. Tilly was ruthless, pulling the ball with tremendous power for 5 fours in her excellent knock. A captain’s innings.

We’ve come a long way with our fielding and bowling. Katherine has the fielding style you could watch all day. She attacks every ball that comes remotely close to her, always looks to get involved and has superb natural game awareness. Naomi made a wonderful catch off the accurate bowling of Matthew, whose speed and bravery when fielding on the boundary wowed the Stroud coach and players. Mary’s bowling was magnificent today. Sophie continues to improve and the development of Rory and Charles from their fanatical cricket practice at breaktimes is clear for all to see.
