Match Report
Salisbury Cathedral School Boys-U13A vs  Dauntsey's School
On: Wednesday, 22 Sep 2021
Venue: at Home

SCS welcomed Dauntsy's on another sunny afternoon perfect for rugby. The game was tight for the first 10 minutes or so with neither team being able to get a strong hold on the game. After a few scrappy mistakes in SCS's handling of the ball Dauntsey's managed to pounce and pick up two tries in quick succession and take the lead going into half time. A lack of organisation in the SCS defence had led to Dauntsey's getting on the front foot from making a few clear line breaks.

At half time SCS talked about how we could manage the game better, be more organised in defence and support our team mates in contact. This is exactly what SCS did as the second half started. SCS managed to pull one score back through Oli Swinnerton making the score 10-5. Another try shortly after this extended the away side's lead to 15-5. SCS did show resilience and managed to score again through James Spencer who gathered a loose ball and ran 15 metres to score in the corner with a great diving finish making it 15-10, game on! Again after a period of scrappy play from SCS, Dauntsey's managed to score a try from close range after SCS had conceded a penalty 5 metres out- 20-10. SCS again were willing to fight back and a great solo try from Oli Swinnerton brought the scoreline even closer to 20-15. With the final two minutes on the clock SCS were in posession looking to tie the game, but after a strong tackle and aggressive rucking from Dauntsey's they managed to turn the ball over and run the time down as the referee sounded the end of the game.

Our stand out players today were Oli, James, Harry, Jono and Ethan.

A special mention to Downside school for providing us with a fantastic referee for this afternoon's fixture.
