Match Report
Salisbury Cathedral School Boys-U13A vs  Sandroyd
On: Wednesday, 19 Jan 2022
Venue: Away

For the first game of the season, the boys faced a challenging test against Sandroyd.

Sandroyd started fast and caught SCS on the back foot, still re-adjusting themselves back into the pace of a hockey match after two years! The Sandroyd team played some lovely hockey, and found themselves creating chance after chance to canter into a 4-0 lead.

Some more resolute defending saw the team only concede 1 more goal before half time, but the team failed to provide any real attacking threat. At half time, the team regrouped and a few players moved around positions to try and affect the game.

The boys started the second half incredibly well, finding multiple openings to bring about superb saves from the opposition goalkeeper. SCS were much more compact in defence which led to difficulty in finding a route to goal. Oli made a string of brilliant saves in goal, and Kavan provided a constant threat throughout. In the last few minutes, SCS got their deserved reward for a good second half performance. Kavan was played through and managed to round the goalkeeper and finish calmly.

Lots of positives and also areas to work on for the coming weeks.
