Match Report
Salisbury Cathedral School Boys-U13C vs  Sandroyd
On: Wednesday, 19 Jan 2022
Venue: Away

Despite going down 2-0, the thirds competed fantastically and could have scored several goals themselves. Having said that, Jono was awesome in goal and had it not been for all his cracking saves, the goal deficit would have been a lot more. Will shares Man of the Match. He played magnificently as sweeper. Tackled like a Trojan and was our most effective distributor of the ball.

Max was excellent. His speed was always a threat and as his confidence develops, I hope he scores the goals his work rate deserves.

Rory played intelligently. Whilst he loves to play in goal, I’m sure he will have plenty of fun this season with his great versatility and terrific attitude to do his best for his team.

Theo didn’t get the ball as much as we would like, but when he does, he looks very tidy. As one of our most natural attacking forwards, his goal is to move even more off the ball to establish himself as a consistent option to pass to.

Eddy seemed to thoroughly enjoy this afternoon and to his great credit, he put himself in excellent goal scoring positions repeatedly in the second half.

Nathan also proved what a good reader of the game he is and was often a threat with his deft passes and close control of the ball.

Ignacio has played very little hockey so far but we’re all hoping he will fast track his skills with each training session and enjoy representing the school. Next match, I’m certain Jago will ensure he brings the right kit and be determined to show his qualities.

Thank you for all your efforts today boys and a special mention to Nathan who was determined to stay and support the seconds, rather than go and have match tea! It speaks volumes of what a team player he is and, as Mr Hawker’s assembly message was, epitomises the corner stones Kindness, Empathy and Generosity and the building blocks of who we can choose to be.
