Match Report
Salisbury Cathedral School Mixed-U11A vs  Warminster School
On: Wednesday, 15 Jun 2022
Venue: at Home

This was only our third game of the season and despite having to rejig the team due to missing players at the Wessex Athletics, this was an excellent performance that almost pulled off what would have been a deserved win.

We had a fantastic start, removing Warminster’s top four batsmen, who all play at county level, within the first 4 overs. Warminster were in fact, 9 - 4 due to the superb bowling of Eddie and Will and then Freddie and Rupert both struck to make the score 17 - 6. Gabriel bowled neatly and Grace also showed how impressively her bowling is coming on due to all her energy in training. We then had 3 overs that overflowed with wides and NBs (most of which were flicked on for 4!) and all of a sudden the target set was 89!

Jasper and Will again did admirably to see off their quick bowlers. They graciously retired to give the perfect stage to the talented pair of Rupert and Freddie L. Runs came, but just not fast enough! More batters retired to give opportunities to Eddie, Freddie M, and Rufus (who earlier kept wicket flawlessly in the baking sun). Then entered Mollie, and after cracking her first ball for four, we all thought, could she do a “Bairstow”?! Grace also enjoyed the occasion but alas, the target of 89 was just too much this time.

Run scoring challenges will be the focus for our next training sessions. We’ve come a long way in 7 weeks. I’m certain we’ll finish on a high for our final match at home against West Hill Park next Wednesday.
